What we know about you

You can read everything on this site without signing up. A session cookie keeps your saved research - shortlisted plans, notes, assessment answers - together between visits. It does not carry your name, and we cannot connect it to you.

We store your email address and the research you choose to save. That is the whole list for an account. Emails from us are limited to sign-in and password resets, and, if you post a question, an email when it gets an answer or a reply, unless you switch it off when you post. Each of those emails has a one-click unsubscribe. No newsletters you didn’t ask for, no marketing.

The switch is one setting for all your questions and claim experiences. You get at most one email a day for each of them. The email says what happened and links to the page. It does not repeat your question, a name, or anything anyone wrote, because other people may see your inbox.

There is a “Tell us” link in the navigation, and what you write there is kept: the words, the page you were on, and the date. It is not tied to your session or your account, so we cannot tell who wrote it unless you say.

Leaving an email address there is optional, and the only thing it is used for is writing back to you about what you said. It is never added to a mailing list, and it is never joined up with anything else we hold.

Five services run the site, and each sees only what its job needs. Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in, on servers in Mumbai. Vercel serves the pages. PostHog, on servers in the European Union, receives how the site is used: which pages open and which buttons are pressed, never what you typed or answered. Sentry receives an error report when a page breaks, with the page’s address and no personal details. Resend sends the emails about your posts: it receives your email address and the email itself.

PostHog may also record how a page was used, so we can see where the site confuses people. Anything you type into a box is hidden from that recording, always, on every page. And the pages where you answer questions about yourself - the assessment, the simulator, your match results and your own Desk - are hidden from it entirely: what is recorded there is a blank shape where the words were.

If you would rather send nothing to PostHog, open any page once with ?ph_optout=1 added to its address. That browser then stays silent until you undo it with ?ph_optin=1.

No advertising trackers run on this site. We do not sell, rent, or share your details with insurers, agents, or anyone else. Nobody calls you because you read a policy here - that promise is the point of the product.

Your data is never used to market any insurance product or to pass your name on as a sales lead - not by us, and not by anyone we give it to, because we give it to no one.

Questions and answers you post in Discussions are public. With your name, a post shows your first name and the first letter of your last name, never your email address.

You can post a question or an answer without your name. The post then shows “Anonymous author” or “Anonymous member”, and your name is never shown with it.

Later, you can remove your name from a discussion. Everything you posted in it then shows without your name, and this cannot be undone. You can also edit or delete what you wrote. If people replied to your answer, its words are erased and a note says that the author removed it. If your question has answers, you can remove its details instead.

What you type in the Discussions search box is not kept. A search there can hold a name, a hospital or an illness, so our search log records only whether the search found something and what you did next. The words do stay in your browser’s history, like any address you open.

What you type in the site’s other search boxes is kept in the same log, so we can learn what readers look for. The log does not record your account or your session. If a search looks like a phone number, an email address, an Aadhaar or PAN number, a date of birth, or a policy, claim or card number, it is recorded without its words.

Write to us from your account email via the contact page and we delete your account and its saved research: shortlisted plans, notes, assessment answers, question sheets and share links. Questions and answers you posted in Discussions stay, without your name, unless you ask us to remove those too.

Anything you sent us through “Tell us” is erased by the email address you gave with it, so write from that address and ask. This works whether or not you ever made an account. If you left no address, there is nothing there that points to you.

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you the right to know what we hold about you, to correct it, and to have it erased. The contact page is the door for all of it - the same person who runs the site answers, and its grievance section is yours to use too.
