Covers treatment at home for conditions that would normally need a hospital stay - for example, when the patient cannot be moved or the hospital is full. Note that many plans exclude common conditions like diabetes or asthma from this benefit.

HDFC ERGO
Your treating doctor must prescribe the home treatment in writing. Many Indian policies exclude common conditions such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension and gastroenteritis from domiciliary cover - this one names no such exclusions.

Niva Bupa
This runs through the same benefit head as home care, so the same three conditions apply: a doctor's advice to treat at home, daily monitoring by a doctor, and a daily chart signed by the treating doctor. Medical and mobility devices used at home are not paid.

Aditya Birla
The three-day minimum is a real gate: a two-day course of home treatment is paid nothing, however genuine. In return, the policy names no diseases that are shut out of this benefit, which is unusual - many plans exclude asthma, diabetes and hypertension here.
