Covers structured recovery programmes - like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy - after a serious injury, stroke, or major surgery. These sessions help you regain strength and normal function, but are often not covered under standard plans.
ICICI LombardStrongElevateThere is no standalone rehabilitation benefit. Physiotherapy sits inside the 180-day post-hospitalisation window, and the wording says the insurer may include it when a doctor prescribes it as medically necessary.
Because the base cover pays physiotherapy only as a post-hospitalisation expense, therapy for a back or knee problem that never led to an admission is not paid. BeFit has its own 30-day waiting period, and unused sessions do not carry into the next policy year.
Star HealthStandardStar Health AssureRehabilitation is paid up to 20% of your Sum Insured a year, shared with pain management, and covers sessions taken as an in-patient or an out-patient. It applies only after an admissible in-patient claim for one of four conditions: poly trauma, head injury, diseases of the spine, or stroke.
Rehabilitation after any other condition - a knee replacement, a cardiac procedure - is excluded. On ₹10,00,000 cover the most you can get is ₹2,00,000, and only for the four listed conditions.
Care HealthLimitedCare SupremeThere is no general rehabilitation cover here. Rehabilitation is paid only under the optional Mental Health Wellbeing benefit, and only for four named conditions: acute depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder. It is an outpatient benefit, cashless only, capped at the amount in your Policy Schedule. Physiotherapy after a stroke or a major surgery is not covered.
The benefit exists only if the optional cover is shown in your Policy Schedule. The prospectus states the limit as 10,000, 25,000 or 50,000 a year depending on the option you buy, and it is payable only through the cashless route.
Star HealthNot coveredSuper StarSuper Star has no rehabilitation benefit. Rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care are named in the policy's standard exclusion Code Excl 05, so an admission arranged mainly for recovery care rather than active treatment is not paid, and no optional cover adds one.
Custodial care at home or in a nursing facility, the help with bathing, dressing and moving around that a stroke or spine patient needs after discharge, is named in the same exclusion, so you pay for an attendant yourself.
HDFC ERGONot coveredOptima RestoreRehabilitation is not covered. Both documents exclude rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care under the standard Excl05 exclusion, and neither Schedule of Benefits has a row for it. The exclusion reaches custodial care at home or in a nursing facility as well.
Star HealthNot coveredStar ComprehensiveRehabilitation is not covered. The policy excludes rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care under standard exclusion Code Excl 05.
Star HealthNot coveredFamily Health OptimaThis plan does not cover rehabilitation. Rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care are named in the standard exclusions, so a structured recovery programme after a stroke or major surgery is not paid, whether it is taken at a rehabilitation centre or at home.
Care HealthNot coveredCare AdvantageCare Advantage does not pay for rehabilitation. The policy defines the word, then permanently excludes rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care - so a recovery programme after a stroke or major surgery, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy, is not covered. No optional cover adds it.
The exclusion also names custodial care at home or in a nursing facility, and care for someone who is terminally ill. If recovery support matters for your family, it has to be budgeted separately or bought elsewhere.
Aditya BirlaNot coveredActiv One · VYTLThis product has no rehabilitation benefit. Rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care are named together in the standard exclusions, and there is no physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy cover anywhere in the policy. You pay for recovery sessions after a stroke or a major surgery from your own pocket once you are discharged.
HDFC ERGONot coveredOptima Secure · Optima-SelectThis product does not cover rehabilitation. The standard exclusion Excl05 removes rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care, and neither benefit chart carries a row for physiotherapy or a recovery programme.
After a stroke or a major surgery, your therapy sessions are paid from your own pocket unless they are part of an admissible hospital stay.
Niva BupaNot coveredReAssure 3.0 · ClassicThere is no general rehabilitation benefit. An admission mainly for rest cure, rehabilitation or respite care is a named exclusion. Rehabilitation is funded in only two narrow ways: physiotherapy inside the 60-day pre and 180-day post hospitalisation window when it relates to a paid claim, and home physiotherapy under the optional Accident Care benefit - which starts only after an accident has left permanent total or permanent partial disability, and is capped in rupees by your Sum Insured level.
An admission taken mainly for rehabilitation is excluded under Excl05, so a residential rehabilitation stay is paid nothing even when a doctor has recommended it.
