Star HealthStrongStar Health AssureStar Health arranges a health check-up at its network providers once every policy year for each adult on the policy. The limit is set by your Sum Insured - Rs.1,500 at Rs.5 lakh, rising to Rs.8,000 at Rs.75 lakh and above on an individual cover, and higher on a floater. The check-up is paid in addition to your Sum Insured, so using it does not reduce your cover.
The check-up is available only after 30 days from the first inception of the policy. Only persons covered as Adult get it. All the tests must be done on the same date, at a network provider that Star Health assigns after you request the check-up.
HDFC ERGOStrongOptima RestoreYou get a fixed rupee amount towards a general health check-up, paid at renewal, and the amount rises with your Sum Insured. The ₹3 lakh Sum Insured is the outlier: it gets no check-up at all.
The benefit pays for a package that assesses general health status, not for tests ordered to investigate an illness you already have. At ₹5 lakh Sum Insured it comes only once at the end of every two continuous policy years, so the first one is a long wait.
HDFC ERGOStrongOptima Secure · Optima-LiteA yearly health check-up paid from the second policy year onward. Rs. 1,500 at 5 Lakhs SI up to Rs. 8,000 at 1 Cr and 2 Cr SI on an individual policy, and higher figures on a floater. The amount sits outside your Sum Insured, so using it does not reduce your cover. It is inbuilt on every plan except Optima Select, where you buy it.
You get nothing in the first policy year, and the benefit does not carry forward if you skip the tests.
Star HealthStandardSuper StarThe health check-up is an optional cover you pay extra for, and it can only be added in the first three policy years. Once added it pays 1% of your Sum Insured, never more than Rs.25,000 in a Policy Year, from Day 1. The same limit also pays for vaccinations. Tests must be booked through the Star Health app and taken cashless.
A check-up you arrange yourself at a local lab and pay for is not reimbursed, because the benefit works only on a cashless basis and only when the tests are booked through the app. On a family floater the Rs.25,000 is one limit for the whole policy; on an individual or multi-individual policy each insured person gets their own.
Star HealthStandardStar ComprehensiveStar Health arranges a health check-up at its network providers once every policy year for each adult on the policy. Using the check-up does not reduce your Sum Insured.
The tests inside Package A and Package B are not written into the policy. They sit on the Star Health website and may be changed at any time without notice, so the contract does not tell you what your check-up will actually include.
Star HealthStandardFamily Health OptimaStar arranges a health check-up for you at one of its network providers, once every policy year, for each adult on the policy. The package depends on your Sum Insured - Package A up to ₹10 lakh, the larger Package B from ₹15 lakh. Using it does not reduce your Sum Insured.
The check-up is for adults only. All the tests must be done on the same date, and you cannot use the benefit in the first 30 days of a new policy. What is inside Package A and Package B is not printed in either document - you have to look it up on starhealth.in, and Star can change the packages without notice.
Aditya BirlaStandardActiv One · VYTLEveryone insured aged 18 and above gets one health check-up a year, from the first year, arranged by the insurer and done cashless at its own centres. The tests are a fixed list that grows with your sum insured. NXT is the exception - there the check-up is a paid option instead of being included.
The check-up works cashless only at a centre the insurer assigns, so a check-up you book and pay for yourself is not reimbursed. A ₹2 lakh to ₹10 lakh cover gets a short panel ending at kidney function test and ECG, while ₹50 lakh and above adds liver function tests, a chest X-ray and an abdominal ultrasound.
ICICI LombardStandardElevateElevate keeps the health check-up out of the base policy - you buy it as an Optional Cover. It then pays 0.5% of your Sum Insured or ₹5,000, whichever is lower, once a policy year for each adult, and only cashless at a network centre. The test package is fixed, and a larger Sum Insured buys a longer list.
The check-up works only cashless at a network centre. If you get the same tests done at your own lab and pay ₹5,000 yourself, this cover pays you nothing back.
Care HealthStandardCare AdvantageThe yearly health check-up is an optional cover you buy, not part of the base plan. Once opted, each insured person gets one cashless check-up a year at the insurer's network, and it does not reduce your Sum Insured.
The check-up is cashless at the insurer's network only, so a check-up you book at your own doctor or laboratory is not reimbursed.
Care HealthStandardCare SupremeThe annual health check-up is an optional benefit you have to buy; it is not part of the base plan. Once opted, each insured person gets one cashless check-up per policy year at a network centre, and it does not reduce your sum insured. The test panel is a fixed list, and sum insureds above 10 lakh add a treadmill test.
If you do not buy this optional benefit, all preventive care is excluded under the policy, so the whole cost of a yearly screening is paid by you.
Niva BupaStandardReAssure 3.0 · ClassicThe annual health check-up is an optional add-on, not part of the base plan. If you buy it, you get one package every policy year from day 1, and the test list is fixed by your variant in Annexure III - Classic gets 7 tests, Black gets 18. Tests must be booked through the Niva Bupa app.
You must book through the insurer's app or website; a check-up you arrange yourself is not paid. If you split the tests over more than 7 days, they may not be treated as one package. This benefit cannot be bought alongside NivaBupaOne.
