Automatically adds your newborn baby to the policy from the day of birth, covering any medical care the baby needs right away - including NICU admission. Without this, any immediate health issues for the baby would be out of pocket.

Vaccinations for the baby are paid up to ₹5,000, or ₹10,000 if your cover is above ₹25,00,000, until the baby turns one. On a policy longer than one year the newborn cover stops at the policy anniversary. To keep the baby covered after that you add it to the policy, and the baby's own waiting periods then run from the date it is added.

Without the Maternity Expenses cover or Women Care, a baby can only be added mid-term and the cover starts on the 91st day of birth. The first 90 days are when a newborn is most likely to need hospital care, and you pay those bills from your own pocket.

If no delivery claim is paid and the mother has been covered for less than 12 continuous months, the newborn gets no cover at all. A NICU admission in the first weeks is then paid entirely by you.
