If you are hospitalised in a foreign country, this benefit pays the travel and hotel costs for one family member to fly out and be with you. It removes the financial barrier to having a loved one by your side during a frightening medical situation far from home.

ICICI Lombard
The ticket money is an optional cover. ₹20,000 is an aggregate for the policy year, not a per-hospitalisation amount, and an international return ticket usually costs more than that.

Aditya Birla
Only the journey is paid. The clause names transportation by economy carrier and says nothing about the family member's hotel stay. The benefit is part of Global Cover, so it is paid only when that overseas hospitalisation claim is admitted, and the family member has to arrange their own travel documents.

HDFC ERGO
It pays only after an overseas Global Health Cover claim is accepted and the treating doctor abroad has advised at least 5 days in hospital and the need for someone with you.
